My goals for this three day weekend were to finish the baby quilt and make two skirts. I was going to use a poly rayon twill and some silk noil. The twill is shown above.
The straight version of this skirt is very comfortable and flattering with some modifications (a TNT) so I am using it.
The second skirt was to be cut from this:
This fabric was not as good a deal as I had thought when I purchased it. It has pills like mad! Little bits of dark green flaking off EVERYWHERE. And this is after being run through the wash (which abraded it in places). Very disappointing to have green dandruff all over your shirt, ironing board, and carpet just from half way pressing it to cut it. I had originally intended to make casual pants with it, but don't know what I can use this for now.
But back to our show. Second fabric plan B:
Some really nice plain weave gray, probably a poly wool from Trim. Great weight and hand, and completely machine washable.
I especially love the texture created by the colors of the weave.
(I hope I have a swatch of this in my file so I can get more like this.)
Happiness is a sharp rotary cutter. I am cutting both out with it quite successfully (this time). Past attempts with the rotary cutter did not go so well, but I was using a bigger cutter. The little blade makes a world of difference.
I had hoped to have both skirts cut, interfacing applied and possibly sewing started today but got side tracked with laundry and cooking. (I needed those fresh baked biscuits I tell you. Needed them.)
