I love them both, but not for the holiday party attire. Well, the second one would do if this were a dressy-casual summer event. The blue I didn't think much of at first (my eye set to the holiday theme), but upon closer inspection, I think it would make a great blouse.
Teamed with the teal Radiance and royal blue sateen:

It is amazing how the colors really leap out against a darker background. I would definitely have to find a suitable underlining -- like a thin Habutai -- in one of these colors and buy yardage (if that danged blasted money tree would hurry up and bloom) and make a blouse out of this.
The warm tropical punch with the violet and rust Radiance:

I really have to not buy such small samples. I know, I know, basically all the books recommend getting at very least 1/4 yard, but most online sellers won't even sell 1/2 yard. In this case, I would love a look at a bigger piece. Those colors are calling me.
The same burnout with cranberry Radiance:

And another reason why I will be on the Devil Wears Prada diet instead of buying food (to pay back my credit card):

If these videos and book can teach me ANYTHING to help me become a better sewist, they will be absolutely worth it.
And (can you stand it, there is actually more!) sometimes it is just better to buy the thing instead of pretending you are going to make it someday...

...or buy several!
No, those aren't purses, they're insulated lunch bags. I got 5 in all, a nice little wardrobe. And no, I did not spend a fortune. All 5 cost the same as 2 of the one they are replacing (the original was discontinued sometime back. Plus, it was an embarrassing, clunky thing to carry to the office anyway.)
You don't want to know what I did to the one I had used for the past 10 or so years. It involves a spill and a memory 404 brain-fart that lasted several days. Even bleach could not save it.
